October 7, 2005, TORONTO – Innoversity has wrapped up its 2005 Innoversity Creative Summit with a string of successes. From Toronto's poet laureate Pier Giorgio Di Cicco’s brilliant address in the opening ceremonies to African drummers, Chinese sword-dancers and breakfast with broadcasting legend Trina McQueen, the Summit was a feast of sights and sounds. Delegates, sponsors and exhibitors call the summit an overwhelming success.
Summit highlights include:
- The Career Fair, featuring more than 15 media employers from film, television and radio. Innoversity’s newest feature gave emerging talent and professionals alike a chance to develop their career plans, establish contacts and increase their knowledge in a variety of fields.
- The Innoversity Mentors and Face Time sessions were a huge hit. There was no shortage of delegates who took advantage of the opportunity to learn from seasoned industry insiders, with line-ups outside the door!
- The Innoversity Panel Sessions were another popular feature of the summit, including One Size Does Not Fit All, which sparked great debate on the creation and marketing of culturally diverse media and entertainment.
- The Open Door Pitch Competition provided finalists with a rare coaching opportunity from broadcasting executives, and five producers won the chance to develop show concepts. This year’s sponsors were Alliance Atlantis, CHUM, CBC Television and CFRB.
- The 2005 Summit was also delighted to host 14 delegates from Western Canada thanks to CHUM Limited, making this year’s gathering a truly national event.
- Case Studies were attended by a diverse group of media and business leaders throughout the summit. The BBC and Disability in Hollywood case studies drew large, enthusiastic audiences, as did “The Overnight Success”, the story behind Oscar-nominated director Hubert Davis' film “Hardwood”.
