Kathy English
Public Editor, The Toronto Star
Kathy English has served as the Toronto Star’s Public Editor since May, 2007. She began working in daily newspapers in 1976 and has reported and edited for five Canadian daily newspapers, including the Star and the Globe and Mail. Kathy was a professor of newspaper journalism at Ryerson School of Journalism from 1989 to 1999. She then worked in “new media”, launching websites for two Canadian media companies, SunMedia and Transcontinental Media. She served five years on the board of the National Newspaper Awards and is currently a member of the board of the Organization of News Ombudsman. She also serves on the ethics panel of the Canadian Association of Journalists and volunteers with the prograaming committee of the Canadian Journalism Foundation. Kathy holds a Masters degree in Canadian history.
