Dr. Mahadeo Sukhai, Natl. Educational Assoc. of Disabled Students

Mahadeo is speaking in “I Am Canadian?” on October 25th.

Mahadeo Sukhai, Ph.D., is a senior postdoctoral fellow in leukemia research at the University Health Network in Toronto, and an associate researcher at the Centre for the Study of Students in Post-Secondary Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto. He has substantial leadership and governance experience from his days as a student leader at the University of Toronto, having served in various executive capacities within the Graduate Students’ Union, and on a number of University-wide committees and Boards, including the Governing Council. He has served in several executive capacities, including president, with the National Educational Association of Disabled Students, a Canadian NGO that supports the access and participation of students with disabilities in post-secondary education. His extensive volunteer and leadership record includes time spent with the International Association of Lions Clubs (1993-2003) and with the Let’s Talk Science Partnership Program, part of a national science outreach initiative for students in the elementary and secondary school systems. Born with congenital cataracts, Dr. Sukhai is actively interested in the engagement of youth in society and education, and in mentorship and career development opportunities for youth with disabilities.
