Gloria M. Castañeda
Program Director/Casting Liaison
Media Access Office/Employment Development Department
Gloria Morales Castañeda is the Program Director and Casting Liaison for the Media Access Office (M.A.O.) located at the Verdugo Jobs Center in Glendale, California. M.A.O. is a free service provided by the CA Employment Development Department (EDD) and it represents over 900 performers with disabilities in the entertainment industry.
Ms. Castañeda has worked in many areas of television production. She received a BA in Communication Arts/Television Production from Loyola Marymount University. Her former jobs include Producer and Associate Producer positions, as well as five years as the Media Coordinator for a non-profit organization in East Los Angeles.
Ms. Castañeda handles the calls from casting directors looking to audition performers with disabilities, as well as assisting her clients and overseeing the different acting and screenwriting classes offered by M.A.O. In her almost 8 years at Media Access, Gloria has become aware of the strong impact an actor with a disability makes when they work on films, television shows or print jobs. Positive images of people with disabilities through these mediums make a powerful impression on society as a whole, showing employers that people with disabilities are viable employees.
In 1999 Ms. Castañeda was the proud recipient of two awards for her work at the Media Access Office; the EDD Director's Exemplary Service Award and the International Association of Personnel in Employment Services (IAPES) Service to People with Disabilities Award.
Gloria lives with her husband Miguel along with their two dogs “Casper” and “Blondie” and their two cats “Shadow” and “Bebe” in the Highland Park community of Los Angeles, California.
