Scholarships and Bursaries at InnoversityFor Immediate Release Applications open for CHUM-funded scholarships to attend Innoversity Summit in Toronto
Up to 15 scholarships for delegates from Alberta and ManitobaToronto, August 22, 2006 – CHUM Limited and Innoversity are pleased to announce that applications are being accepted for the CHUM Delegate Scholarship, designed to enable aspiring and established media professionals from Alberta and Manitoba to attend the Innoversity Summit in Toronto, October 23 and 24, 2006. The scholarships form part of CHUM Limited’s social benefits package following its acquisition of Craig Media Inc. "As a key sponsor of the Innoversity Summit since its inception, CHUM is proud to help Innoversity to continue to welcome a broader audience to this important event that builds diversity, creativity and innovation in the media," said Sarah Crawford, CHUM Limited’s Vice President, Public Affairs. "Last year’s scholarship recipients made valuable industry contacts and enriched their knowledge as writers, producers and directors. This year’s recipients should also anticipate a positive and rewarding experience." The Innoversity Summit is Canada's premier event focusing on cultural diversity in Canadian media. Held October 23 and 24, 2006 at the Toronto Marriott Hotel, Innoversity provides people working, studying or pursuing careers in broadcasting, film and related industries with a chance to showcase work, make connections, attend professional development workshops, gain mentorship and compete for development contracts. The CHUM Delegate Scholarship will cover airfare, accommodations, conference registration and a per diem for up to 15 people from Alberta and Manitoba to attend the Summit in Toronto. Scholarship recipients must attend the two-day Summit and submit a short written report on their experience. Preference will be given to applicants who are members of persons with disabilities, Aboriginal and visible minority groups. Preference will also be given to independent media, content creators or producers. Please note that CHUM employees and their relatives, and 2005 recipients of the CHUM Delegate Scholarship are not eligible. Scholarship recipients will be notified by September 25, 2006. Names of recipients will be posted on the Innoversity website by September 26, 2006.
