National Apprenticeship Training Program (NATP)

Launched in 1984, the National Apprenticeship Training Program (NATP) is one of the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television’s most innovative and highly acclaimed programs.

The NATP is designed to provide hands-on apprenticeship experience within a professional environment to Canadian students how have completed post-secondary film, television, communications or related studies. Its purpose is to expose these apprentices to the labour market and to ease their entry into the industry.

Comprised of leading professionals, an Academy NATP jury selects the top students in the country to receive a 12-week paid training on professional productions. Enjoying an unprecedented 100% success rate, more than 170 young professionals have been successfully trained and integrated into the Canadian films and television industry.
