Getting Your Story Straight: Key Steps Before You Pitch

We've all had them - magical connective ideas, topics that are "hot" and shooting opportunities that are blinding in their brilliance. But what is the story, where is the visual opportunity, and what is the best medium for it? When do you rework an idea, and when do you backburner it? Attendees who are open to their idea being discussed in the group are welcome to send a one-sheet or single paragraph idea ahead of time.

CBC – What We’re Looking For and How to Get Found

The future is here and Canadian Television Audiences have more choice than ever before – but fewer choices that truly reflect the experiences and interests of Canadians.

It is our job at CBC television to ensure that we remain relevant, vibrant and vital to the lives of Canadians everywhere so we welcome the Independent Production Community to pitch those ideas - and we’ll tell you how.

From the development of our programs to our staff and our audience, CBC supports many diversity initiatives. CBC television itself is a diverse schedule - from the legacy of our sports traditions and acclaimed news programs to the impact of our documentaries and programming that seeks to entertain, inspire and enlighten! We are exploring new approaches to our schedule, delving into new genres and reaching Canadians in new ways and on new platforms, with a wide range of outstanding homegrown programming that everyone can enjoy.

On October 9th, CBC Television goes 24 hours - providing Canadians with outstanding public television 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Come and meet Christine Wilson, Deputy Program Director for CBC Television to find out more as she discusses the new Program Development Process, and the new changes in Network Programming. Join her to hear first hand - What we’re looking For. And Anton Leo, Creative Head of Comedy will bring you practical advice on How to Get Your Ideas to us.
