October 24, 2006

Morning

Marketing to a Diverse Audience

One of the biggest challenges facing companies is learning how to reach an increasingly diverse marketplace with its products and services. As consumers become more and more sophisticated, more innovative methods must be used to attract them, whether it’s to watch a TV program, donate blood, or buy a new automobile. This highly visual session will present some of the pitfalls and prizes in tapping into a diverse marketplace.

Facilitator: Justin Poy

Since 1993, Justin Poy has developed and created marketing and advertising campaigns targeted towards various Asian markets in Canada and abroad, specifically in the Chinese (Taiwanese, Mainland and Hong Kong) and Korean markets. As Creative Director of The Justin Poy Agency, he has been recognized with 11 Summit Creative Awards (Oregon, USA) and received three awards from the Chinese Canadian Advertising, Media and Marketing Association (CCAMMA).

Afternoon

Managing Diversity:

The concept of tempered radicals, which many Innoversity delegates will hear about for the first time at the Innoversity™ Summit 2006, will introduce new ideas about how to activate certain employees to make meaningful change in the workplace. Tempered radicals are often minorities—people who feel they are outside the dominant culture of an organization—but they offer unique thinking and abilities that could be leveraged to help an organization prosper. This session will feature Dr. Maureen Scully, who helped pioneer the concept of tempered radicals.

Facilitator: Hamlin Grange

Hamlin Grange is co-founder and a principal consultant with DiversiPro Inc. Since launching DiversiPro six years ago, Mr. Grange has worked with a wide range of companies to help increase their levels of cultural competence. He has made presentations on diversity management systems across Canada, in the US as well as parts of Europe.

Special Guest: Dr. Maureen Scully

Dr.Maureen Scully is a Professor of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Boston and Faculty Affiliate at the Center for Gender in Organizations, Simmons School of Management in Boston. Her research focuses on issues of gender, race, and diversity in the workplace.
