Ceta will moderate “Who Speaks?” at 2:30pm on October 26th.

Ceta Ramkhalawansingh is the former corporate manager on access, equity and diversity at the City of Toronto.

Ceta worked at Toronto City Hall for three decades prior to her retirement in 2010. She was responsible for pioneering many ground-breaking equity and human rights policies placing Toronto in the forefront of social justice efforts. Prior to City Hall, Ceta was a co-founder and lecturer in Women’s Studies, University of Toronto and worked with school trustees at the Toronto School Board to develop multicultural policies and programs.

Currently, she is the national Chair, The Word On The Street Canada, President of the LEARNXS Foundation., board member of the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care, Principal’s Appointee to the Innis College Council, University of Toronto and will soon begin a term as an alumni representative on the College of Electors, University of Toronto. Among the boards on which she has served are: Ontario Advisory Council on Women’s Issues, MATCH International Centre, YWCA of Toronto, University Settlement House, Cecil Community Centre, Couchiching Institute on Public Policy.

In the downtown Toronto Grange neighbourhood, she helped to establish park revitalization efforts through the Grange Park Advisory Committee with the Art Gallery of Ontario. Her leadership role in social housing, heritage conservation and land use planning was recognized by local residents who selected her as the founding Honorary President of the Grange Community Association. Ceta is the recipient of numerous awards and has contributed to several books and journals on a range of topics.
