Ellen Waxman, Asst. Deputy Minister, Accessibility Directorate of Ontario
Ellen will speak in Building an Accessible Ontarioon October 25thEllen Waxman has been with the Ontario Public Service since 1987. She is currently the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Accessibility Directorate of Ontario (ADO) responsible for the development of standards and compliance enforcement of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). The AODA is enterprise-wide legislation covering over 350,000 organizations in Ontario across public, private and not-for-profit sectors.Over her career in the OPS, Ellen has held a variety of senior management positions including establishing the Ontario Disability Support Program, initiating the transformation of Developmental Services for people with intellectual disabilities, and being the Director of Strategy and Policy in what is now Service Ontario.
Ellen has an Honours B.A. from McGill University, a Master’s of Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto, and is an Adler Certified Professional Coach and member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF). In her earlier life, she was a recipient of a scholarship from the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada and spent two years studying in the Peoples’ Republic of China. |
