Presenter – Suelyn Knight

 

Suelyn Knight, M.Ed., Community Outreach Coordinator, United Way Peel Region

 

Suelyn Knight is a passionate community developer whose focal interests are capacity building and community engagement. Her more than 8 years of community development experience has been gained through a wide variety of roles with organizations such as Correctional Service Canada, Toronto Community Housing Corporation and Canadian Cancer Society. Now presently at United Way Peel Region, Suelyn is currently examining effective community engagement strategies for mobilizing Peel region’s Black community.

Suelyn has always had an interest in academics and the interplay between theory and application. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and is currently pursuing a Master of Education degree at York University, with a focus on community-based research. Her research will explore the connections between race, marginalization and the social determinates of health and their effects on the development of human potential.
