G. Raymond Chang

G. Raymond Chang is recognized as an outstanding Canadian business leader and philanthropist whose contributions have advanced the financial, health, education, and cultural sectors with significant and farsighted investments of personal resources and dedicated attention.

Mr. Chang joined CI Financial (CI) in 1984 as Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer. He was promoted to President and COO in 1994. Two years later, he became President and Chief Executive Officer and has been the Chairman since 1999.

Through his privately owned company G. Raymond Chang Ltd., Mr. Chang is active in the development of hydrogen fuel cells, medical diagnostic devices and equipment and private wireless networks.

Mr. Chang has been a member of the Board of Governors of Ryerson University since 2001. He has been a significant contributor to the University’s School of Continuing Education, which was named the G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education in his honour. In November 2006 he was bestowed the honour of Chancellor of Ryerson University.
Mr. Chang has also been active in providing his time and support to good works in the community. He is an active member of the Board of Directors of the Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation. His generosity allowed for the creation of the Gladstone and Maisie Chang Chair in Teaching of Internal Medicine at the University Health Network (UHN), named for his parents. Mr. Chang also established a Fellowship to train West Indian doctors at the UHN.
Mr. Chang also supports good works in Jamaica, the country of his birth. In 2008 – he was appointed Special Consultant to the Government of Jamaica, by the Prime Minister of Jamaica.
